Lagos state driver, Oluwaseun Osinbajo, was apprehended and handed over to the police for investigation and possible prosecution by the state over manslaughter.
The incident happened on March 9, where a Lagos state staff bus collided with a train at the PWD railway crossing at Ikeja.
Records have it that the unfortunate incident resulted in 6 fatalities with about 96 others with various degrees of injuries. The victims involved in the unfortunate incident were hospitalized across many government Hospitals in the state.
The Lagos state government however set to arraign the driver for driving recklessly and for the havoc caused.
Upon the receipt and review of the case file forwarded to D.P.P for statutory actions. A prima-facie case of manslaughter and Grievous Body Harm was disclosed against the driver of the bus.
The state ministry of Justice released a statement which says Osinbajo is to be charged with 6 counts Manslaughter and 10 counts of Grievous Body harm .The Ministry says both offenses are contrary to sections 224 and 225 of the Criminal Law of Lagos state,2015.
“The office of the D.P.P will immediately charges against the Driver. However, his arraignment before the High Court of Lagos state shall be delayed until he is fully fit to stand trial, having sustained serious injuries during the accident.”
