Chief Gbenga Okotore from the Okutu-Ope community, Ilesa, in Osun state was killed by gunmen suspected to be assassins.
The incident occurred on Thursday, March 16, 2023, which was confirmed by the police spokesperson SP Yemisi Opalola.
It was gathered that the victim was shot by the attackers at a close range.
According to an eyewitness, who is a resident of the area, he gave account of the whole scenario leading to the demise of the victim.
It was reported that the armed men reportedly shot sporadically into the air before taking out their target.
The eyewitness added the deceased might have been trailed to the spot where he was killed, He proceeded saying, Sound of gunshots was heard when the incident happened, but no one could deem it fit to move closer to the scene, for the fear of not being killed too.
However, SP Yemisi Opalola upon confirming the incident, assured those living in the community ensuring swift action is taken and the perpetrators of the act will soon be apprehended.
The OPPRO stated “Oketore was a chief, a community leader in the area. we have commenced work to the incident and those involved will not escape justice.”
